Who Needs a Big Wedding Cake?

Okay, maybe some people need to feed dessert to their guests when they get married (crazy, I know), but have you ever looked at a huge, towering dressed up wedding cake and been… intimidated? There are some people who don’t like cake (like myself) or a giant wedding cake just seems too bridal or traditional. Or finally, maybe a five tier cake is just too expensive to be reasonable. No matter the reason why, perhaps you’ve decided to cut your mom’s original pitch of a four tier down three tiers.

One of the most appealing reasons to want a simple cake is the charm. I think these cakes can be so cute and charming, especially for the couple that doesn’t feel like a multi-tier cake doesn’t do anything to represent them. This is a great option if you are having a smaller wedding, or even if you want the cake to be something special for you and your partner or your immediate families in the wedding.

If you aren’t having a small wedding, you still don’t need a big cake. You can always provide other desserts for the rest of the guests. Cupcakes, donuts, pies, cheesecakes, you name it. A lot of guests would most likely appreciate the variety of options beyond a wedding cake some people are often too afraid to eat anyways, and it’s almost always cheaper.

Maybe you are saving the cake as a special piece only for you and your partner, saving the cost of a large, expensive wedding cake, or maybe a traditional cake just isn’t your style. Whatever your reason for opting for a small cake, there are many different ways to make it uniquely your own while also catering to your family and guests.
